Voice over IP (VoIP)
Voice over IP (VoIP) or Broadband Voice is a service that allows you
to consolidate your voice and data communications to achieve
a more cost-effective communications solution for your business. By using
this service you would
be able to have free inter- and intra-office calls, and
free calls between users. Apart from the substantial call savings, we
also offer additional
enhanced features such as multi number mapping and PBX. Our Broadband Voice service makes use of your current broadband connection
to make and receive phone calls. The service is backed by a heavily
invested infrastructure and therefore the quality is equivalent to traditional
PSTN lines.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is a VoIP service?
A: VoIP is a revolutionary telephony service,
suitable for businesses and residential users. By delivering
phone calls over an Internet connection but behaving
like a traditional phone service, it makes expensive
PBXs and traditional PSTN/ISDN phone lines redundant.
The service offers free on-net calls and reduced call rates to national,
international and mobile destinations.
Our infrastructure is based on Cisco Powered Technology that offers
the ability to target a braod range of customers from
large enterprises down to small and medium-sized businesses.
It's a flexible and scalable integrated service over
any access method through a single connection and network,
using a single protocol.
Q: What Internet connection and bandwidth is required for this service? A: A
VoIP call size is about 40Kb (bandwidth) per call.
Our service is compatible with ADSL, SDSL and lease
lines. In ADSL scenarios, due to the limitation on ADSL upstream
(256Kbps), we recommend that you plan no more than
5 simultaneous calls on one single broadband connection.
In most business scenarios, and in particular where data traffic
flow is high, we highly recommend the use of a dedicated
broadband/lease line connection for the voice service.
This may appear
as an additional expense, but consider the saving from
the number of traditional PSTN/ISDN phone lines you can
abandon, in most cases you will be paying less for the
service
Q: Will the VoIP service interfere with my DSL or cable modem
data connection?
A: The VoIP service routes your incomoing and outgoing
calls right alongside the data being sent to or from
your computer. This, you can make and receive calls
while you use your computer to access the Internet.
VoIP uses advanced audio compression techniques to minimise the
data traffic caused by voice calls and maximise the
bandwidth available for your other Internet traffic.
However, for larger business users when purchasing
your DSL/leased line, please ensure you calculate sufficient
bandwidth for both your data and voice usage. Again
the best solution
will be using a dedicated internet connection for voice,
so it does not share bandwidth with data traffic.
